Stone Mountain is located 25 minutes east of downtown Atlanta. Residents enjoy a short commute and the slower paces suburban life. The town is named for Stone Mountain, the largest exposed granite dome in North America. This mountain has contributed to the economic growth of the community due to its popular Atlanta tourist attraction and in the past, the granite quarry.

There is an Antebellum Plantation and Farmyard with 19 historic buildings, the Crossroads, which is a recreation of a 1872 southern town with many attractions including a 4-D theater, restaurants, shops, mini-golf, and a the children´s activity center known as the Great Barn, a Ropes Course was added to the park in 2009 and is extremely popular. For those looking for more adventure Stone Mountain has many hiking trails and the Sky Ride that takes visitors to the top of the mountain. The most popular attract in Stone Mountain is the laser light show throughout the summer months.
